Thank you for visiting this nonpartisan website created to share information with Dallas County residents about a proposed administrative and public safety facility to better meet the needs of one of the country’s fastest-growing counties.
Not only have we seen it all around us, Dallas County’s growth has been well documented. Census numbers show our population has nearly double from 35,783 in 1997 to an estimated 71,967 in 2012. We lived in the nation’s 14th fastest-growing county last year. That comes on the heels of 2011 when Dallas County was the seventh-fastest growing in America. And, we know that Dallas County’s population is going to continue to grow in the months and years ahead.
There’s no doubt that a significant increase in population in such a short period of time creates a number of growing pains, especially in the delivery of government services.
As you browse this site, you’ll learn more about the very deliberate process that has led us to recommend a new county administration and public safety facility in east Adel. We also hope you’ll share this information with your friends and neighbors — and invite them to visit this site occasionally — as we move forward with our efforts to fully inform the public about this project.
One important point we want to emphasize is that we have unanimously come to the conclusion that as Dallas County has grown, our ability to deliver services must keep pace.
